Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is a day to celebrate with family and rejoice in our many freedoms.  At MANNA we start our Thanksgiving day in the kitchen, cooking, baking, and making sure that all of our extended family – our many clients – is provided for.

Each current MANNA client receives a  a bountiful Thanksgiving Day meal for four consisting of soup, turkey and all of the trimmings – including a delicious MANNA-baked pie to end the meal.

MANNA could not make this day happen without the support of the hundreds of volunteers who hand-deliver meals and well wishes to every client.  This year, MANNA is thankful to Thomson Reuters for their sponsorship of this day and their belief in the importance of neighbors nourishing neighbors.

Keith MacGregor, Executive Vice President of Thomson Reuters, states that “The scientific business of Thomson Reuters has deep roots in Philadelphia, going back more than 50 years. This is our home, and we are committed to giving back to our local community. Our partnership with MANNA creates volunteer opportunities for our employees and the ability for our business to contribute to those who are in need.  We’re in the business of innovation, but we know that innovation takes time and the people who receive MANNA meals need help today. While we look to the future, we must also remain committed to the present.”

This Thanksgiving was a year to remember.   The MANNA kitchen prepared 2,400 Thanksgiving meals.  Volunteers helped chop, cook, pack and deliver these meals to neighbors battling life-threatening illnesses.  We could not think of a better way to spend our morning than helping those in need.
