NOURISH, presented by Health Partners Plans, will take place on Thursday, March 30, 2017. There will be a programmed session highlighting recent innovations in healthcare including the impact of nutrition. The day culminates in a cocktail reception and presentation of the MANNA Nourish Award.
This year, MANNA is delighted to honor Secretary Ted Dallas of the Department of Human Services in Pennsylvania where implemented a full Medicaid expansion that has provided access to health care coverage to 700,000 Pennsylvanians who were previously uninsured and helped approximately 54,000 individuals leave Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) for employment opportunities.
Previously, as the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Human Resources, Dallas led his Department in setting state records for moving individuals from welfare to work and for collecting the highest amounts of child support in the state’s history. The Department was recognized by the federal government as one of the most efficient and highest performing states at administering food assistance.
Secretary Dallas has deep connections to the City of Philadelphia where he served as first deputy managing director. Secretary Dallas received a national award from Casey Family Programs for his contributions to the child welfare field and his efforts to improve the lives of children and families as well as the Thomas J. Zuber Memorial Patient Service Award from SEIU recognizing his efforts for implementing the Medicaid expansion in Pennsylvania. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his MBA from Temple University.
