Volunteer Guidelines

MANNA requires that volunteers attend a mandatory Volunteer Orientation before getting started.

Please complete Volunteer Application and schedule your orientation date. Orientations are held every other Wednesday at MANNA's offices (2323 Ranstead Street), and last approximately 45 minutes.

Kitchen Volunteers
Kitchen Volunteers assist MANNA's chefs in preparation of over 3,000 fresh, nutritious meals every day. MANNA's schedule tries to accommodate your lifestyle by offering 3 hour shifts Monday through Friday. Make new friends while chopping vegetables, cooking, baking and packaging meals. Learn how to make pasta for 500 people, help staff pack the next day's deliveries, and help clean up and get ready for tomorrow's meal.

Kitchen Safety and Dress Code
Volunteer safety is a priority at MANNA and The Department of Health requires a dress code for MANNA's kitchen. All volunteers must be at least 14 years of age or older.

Volunteers are required to adhere to the following guidelines:
  • no sleeveless shirts or tank tops
  • must wear long pants (no shorts or skirts)
  • must wear closed shoes (no open-toed shoes or sandals)
  • hats and/or head covering is required (although hairnets are provided)
  • disposable aprons and gloves will also be provided onsite.

Special Events
For many of our events, we need volunteers to assist the Events Team in promotion, set-up, and on-site. If you are interested in volunteering for special events, please contact Rob Saxon
